Fall Reset

As we transition into what I feel is the busiest time of the year, I always do a "life audit." It's easy to get caught up in the holiday rush, so before the festivities even kick off, take a moment and ask yourself, "How am I showing up for God, and how am I showing up for myself?"

For me, showing up for God means spending one hour a day with Him. I like to break this up throughout my day: 20 minutes in the morning, midday, and evening. This can be praise and worship, going for a walk outside (no headphones), reading the Bible, journaling, or listening to a sermon.

I show up for myself, but not in the way the world tells you to. Self-care, spa days, mani-pedis—all those things are nice, but I've found they aren't true self-care or showing up for myself. The best self-care is resting in the Lord. Showing up for myself these days looks like slowing down, having quiet time (this is a huge one), getting true rest, and setting myself up for success by doing tasks that will make my day and life run smoother.

Never feel like you have to wait for a certain time of year to hit the reset button. We're 9 months into 2024, and I'm just now feeling ready to take on my goals. The old me would think that's a late start; however, I needed to be obedient to God because He called me to a season of rest.

As you're getting yourself ready for the day, I encourage you to take a quick audit of your life and ask yourself, "How am I showing up for God and how am I showing up for myself?"
